Congratulations to Tammi Krier, winner of the 2025 Byron G. Stout IV Spotlight on Wellness Award.
Tammi Krier

Tammi Krier is the Director of Nutrition for the Greater Wichita YMCA. Tammi’s dedication to promoting wellness and good nutrition has been a driving force throughout her career. She has spent the last sixteen years working in various settings, including retail, clinical, consultant, and community environments. Her efforts have consistently focused on creating and implementing policies and programs that support healthy living.

In her current role as Director of Nutrition, Tammi has revitalized several nutrition and culinary programs. These include the Jr. Chef Academy, a hands-on 10-week kids cooking class series focused on healthier foods, and the free Cooking Matters for Parents program, which empowers parents and caregivers to shop, cook, and eat healthier on a budget. She has also developed a new hands-on cooking and nutrition series for adults, teaching them tips and tricks for cooking their way to better health. Additionally, Tammi has coordinated numerous employee wellness initiatives, secured funding for the YMCA’s signature kids’ hands-on cooking programs, and held multiple positions with local and state dietetic associations.

“Tammi’s programs have made a significant impact on the community by promoting healthy eating habits and empowering individuals to take control of their nutrition,” says Meritrust President/CEO James Nastars. “We are honored to recognize Tammi’s exceptional work and commitment to wellness, which aligns perfectly with Byron’s legacy of promoting health and well-being.”

Tammi’s passion for wellness extends beyond her professional life. She strives to model healthy behaviors for her children and family, emphasizing the importance of daily physical activity. She also prioritizes emotional wellness through spiritual practices and community involvement. To support financial wellness, she and her husband focus on spending wisely, saving for the future, and donating to those in need. In her community, Tammi supports new moms by organizing meal trains to provide them with much-needed support during a stressful time.

“I believe in the journey of progress, not perfection, and I encourage others to make small changes to improve their wellness,” says Tammi. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help individuals in their wellness journeys and to see the positive impact on their lives.”

As part of this award, Meritrust is making a $1,000 donation to a cause selected by Tammi, the Aaron Snook memorial through St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School for playground, football field and other exterior improvements.

This is the tenth year Meritrust has honored a wellness advocate in the community through the Spotlight on Wellness Award. Meritrust presents the award in memory of Byron G. Stout IV, a Meritrust vice president of human resources who passed away in 2015. Byron was passionate about wellness within the workplace and the community and championed many wellness initiatives throughout his career.

Thank you, Tammi, for your commitment to wellness in the Wichita community!
