Help for Hopeful Homeowners

New grants and special programs are available for homebuyers!

Buying a home provides a unique sense of pride. For former renters, homeownership means finally putting an end to paying rent and building equity in your own home that can return profits down the road.

What often stops many would be homebuyers is the upfront cash needed for the down payment and closing costs. However, there are resources to help, including new grant opportunities.

HSP Grant – With new grants available on March 4, 2024, the Homeownership Set-Aside Program assists in covering the costs of down payment, closing costs and repairs for qualifying first-time homebuyers. The grant will be available to homebuyers in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado on a first-come, first-served basis.

HOPE Grant – While the “missing middle” homebuyers do not traditionally receive financial assistance, the Homeownership Possibilities Expanded grant steps in to help these homebuyers with support for down payments, closing costs or eligible repairs. The HOPE grant is available to first-time and repeat homebuyers.

The Dream 100 – This zero-down-payment home loan from Meritrust gives homebuyers a way to purchase a home with no down payment. In order to qualify, borrowers must have a minimum credit score of 660, use the home as their primary residence and purchase a home up to $550,000.

The 97% Advantage – This Meritrust conventional loan requires only a 3% down payment and offers extra flexibility in financing. Both first-time and repeat homebuyers may qualify with a credit score of at least 640 and can purchase a home priced up to $766,550.
